The 12 Days of Celebrations

24 Nov The 12 Days of Celebrations

HOW TO STAY FOCUSED AND REDUCE STRESS DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON

DAY 1:     START A JOURNAL

Take the time so that you don’t waste your time! Start a Journal, and begin by reflecting on a VISION of what you want for this 2015 season! List your most important values you can refer back to when things get busy, and you have to make decisions, be true to these values. What do you LOVE about this time of year? DO THAT!!

DAY 2:    WHAT NEEDS CHANGING

Once you have made it clear what is important, decide what needs changing and share those ideas with your family! This is perhaps a conversation that needs to happen with everyone brainstorming ideas and coming to a decision based on that vision. This is a time of tradition, but be careful you don’t get stuck in these traditions. Remain flexible to create new ones and remember to LET GO! Stress can build as a result of expectations, perfectionism, and guilt!

DAY 3:     MAKE A LIST! “DOING” DAYS

Now that you have made it clear to everyone any changes that need to happen, start your lists!

DAY 4:      RELAXATION

Add to your list, some ideas for relaxation, meditations, aromatherapy, music, whatever works for you, and remember to practice! Make regular visits to yourself to check in and see how you are doing.

DAY 5:       CALENDARS

Looking ahead, record all important dates, functions, and “doing days” for getting things done, eg. Shopping, buying a tree if this is your tradition, decorating, baking, donations, volunteering, ect.

DAY 6:      BE FLEXIBLE AND TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

You are halfway there! This is an important time to check in and see how you are doing? Stress increases when we notice any resistance to all that is happening!! Flexibility in these moments, just in case the unexpected happens, outside your plans! Receive it all!! Take time to pause and notice any negativity, pay attention to thoughts! Are they helpful or harmful? Self – talk is not always friendly, so practice new ways of talking to yourself!

DAYS 7 – 12:   PEACE   LOVE   JOY  “BEING” DAYS

When you feel everything is done, and the planning is behind you. Pause often, observe, using your senses to receive all the wonderful moments. With intention, notice moments of JOY! Where do you notice LOVE? Are you able to feel stillness and PEACE? When we pay attention, those moments will create memories within!

Your vision has become reality!

MAY YOU BE WELL THIS HOLIDAY SEASON,

MAY ALL BEINGS BE WELL
